Oooo, his solo carrer was VERY rocky. Albums like Dark Horse, 33 1/3, George Harrison, Somewhere In England, and his best of albums were big flops. He did not hit the pop charts that much at all after Abbey Road and All Things Must Pass.

Hell, Somewhere In England had barely any notion of pop cliches at all, so the record company refused to release it til he put on happier pop tunes (and they were still few, and obviously not from George's passion, just to fucking get the album out). The first song, Blood From A Clone, was about them wanting him to slam pop tunes in it, and he just was sick of it. His albums were great, but not too much pop on them at all. The most upbeat was his self titled album (guess was just lazy for a title on this one, lol), but none of them were really pop at all.

Clapton had more carrer solo pop hits than George.

Now, George's albums did have followings, just not on the pop charts (til Cloud 9, which was his last studio album til the one that was finished after he died - Brainwashed)

Yes, but I would not say that that was Harrisons peak. Nor was it Clapton's when he was in the Yardbirds, Cream, Blind Faith, Dominoes, etc.
