smaller necks for smaller hands, the body of a guitar isn't a problem no matter what your body size is, of course unless you're trying to play a mexican bass - lol.
if you get a guitar with a smaller neck it can facilitate a beginner player quite nicely, or at least that's what i've heard.
peace,

(oh, btw you must like my new sig, hee hee)
EDIT: if you're turned off by this pastel axes, then I'd recommend a parlor guitar, or a 3/4 sized dred, for makers, Dean, Samick, Fender, all offer low priced entry level guitars that have slim necks

My girlfriend would probably laugh at me if I gave her a purple or pink or yellow guitar, shes not that kinda girl. As for body sizes, it does kind of matter, a dreadnought is a little harder to hold and play for a smaller person, a grand auditorium is much more comfortable for smaller people. A parlor guitar is way to small, shes not a child, and Ive looked at baby taylors and big baby taylors, theyre too small, she doesnt need a smaller model guitar, just a smaller body. I will look at dean and samick if they have slimmer necks though cuz that could help, but Im stayin away from fenders. Ive heard a lot of goo dthings about Alvarez's being very good for their price but if I can get my hands on a dean or samick Ill deffinatley try one out and see what I think. thanksc_tietze wrote:http://www.daisyrock.com/

Maybe some of you have heard me go off about Seagulls before, so I'll spare you. Anyway, I don't think you could buy a better built/better sounding guitar for the money. They make a "folk" model that might accomidate her. It has a smaller body similar to a classical guitar, but it's a steel string acoustic. Here's a link Jaime.

Kind of figured you weren't going to go for the Hillary Duff guitar, lol. Had to post the link though.jsgksu wrote:My girlfriend would probably laugh at me if I gave her a purple or pink or yellow guitar, shes not that kinda girl. A friend of mine, whom is female plays a parlor-sized guitar and she does not feel like a child.

You mentioned you don't want a smaller model guitar, but a smaller body. This confuses me. A smaller guitar does have a smaller body, like an auditorium or parlor guitar, right? You may be able to find a thinline acoustic like an Epiphone might work out.
Ah, either way I'm rambling, I made my suggestions. Good luck to you and I hope that you find the right axe for your girlfriend.
Peace,
CJT

There is a difference between a dreadnought vs an auditorium, and a regular sized guitar and a 3/4 or 15/16 size guitar. I want her to have a full size guitar with just a smaller body style, 15/16 might be an option but 3/4 is notc_tietze wrote:Kind of figured you weren't going to go for the Hillary Duff guitar, lol. You could probably dicker them down to $300 or a little less. I STRONGLY recommend them.jsgksu wrote:Oh yeah, I have played a Seagull before and I really liked it, Ill have to check those out, thanks, any idea on the price?whip3512 wrote:Maybe some of you have heard me go off about Seagulls before, so I'll spare you. She doesnt like the way they look, the headstock mostly, looks like the Alvarez wins out.whip3512 wrote:You could probably dicker them down to $300 or a little less. jsgksu wrote:So, my girlfriend plays guitar but she has some real pos beater garage sale kinda guitar. I wanna get her one some time during the next school year but I dont know what to get her. The price range stops around $300 or so. So far from what Ive found the Alvarez RF8 sounds like a good deal, you can get it around $250 I believe, I had her try one out at the local guitar store at school and she liked it, but shed probably like any guitar more than hers. It seemed like a good guitar for the price but I just thought Id ask you guys if you had any insight. So, the price range shouldnt exceed $300 and it should be a smaller body guitar, no dreadnoughts, cutaway and electronics also arent needed. Thanks for any info.
I love my Mini-Widebody Seagull. Check out the Seagulls...they're really nice guitars and are well priced for the quality
