I listen to Harper, But not a whole lot..

I can really only listen to him when I'm just a relaxed mood...

He's good, and he's got a lot of passion.. But I really don't listen to him a whole bunch., I guess.

it's perfectly founded, the only thing that's truly unfounded here is the perception of reality in DMB-fandom world...
I dont think anybody here is claiming that Harper is a musical god. At least I'm not. Sure, I think he's good...especially compared to Mayer and his dripping cheese. Which also happens to be the topic of the thread.

And whats all this dmb fan nonesense youre talking about? At least in my case, I'm hardly a dmb fan anymore. I havent purchased a dmb album since 1998. Anyway, I dont see anything wrong with not giving two shits about fancy guitar work over lyrics, which is what I think this thread boils down to. You guys have your preferences, and others have theirs. Nobody is unfounded...you may think their tastes suck, but thats ok. If you really think anyone is unfounded here, then youre just one of those music snobs. Which I'm sure youre ok with, cause snobs usually are. And if that is the case, you're living a lie in defending Mayer so diligently. No self-respecting music snob would like him anyway.

i never saw it as guitar fanciness vs. lyrics. i listened to harper not really knowing what to expect. no, his guitar work wasn't brilliant, but thats not why i didn't care for the songs i listened to. i just thought they were boring, they were repetitive and just got dull about halfway through. i dont usually analyze lyrics a lot, but on songs like i'll rise up and please bleed, he just ended up repeating the same line or theme over and over. that gets boring real quick, especially if the guitar work is just as repetitive.

how a person perceives music is up to them. i didn't necessarily dislike harper, i just will probably never listen to his songs again. i respect him though, and see why some people might like him. his music just doesn't spark any interest in me. its that simple. i listened, and i didn't go for it; it happens

I know...that post wasnt directed so much at you as it was Elliot. I agree...his stuff can get repetitive. I think he's a lot more dynamic on the electric (and personally I wouldn't have sent you the songs the others have been sending you.)

Regardless, your post is the point I'm trying to make. Elliot's condescending attitude is what sparked my reply, I guess.

Let's just quit playing try to impress Josh...

He's listened to some of harper's great stuff, imo.. or most enjoyable stuff, at least

If he's got his opinion, I doubt anything else harper has is going to change it...
