hey, we've all got our first crappy recordings, but beyond myself and pat i dont believe anyone else has had the nads to post theirs... :D
yea, but yours sucked ass
you sucked ass at one point too
nope, Im pretty sure I was always awsome.

Yea, I did suck ass at one point, but I wasnt as ignorant as yourself and closed to any advice I didnt want to hear at the time.
how the fuck can you say that considering how much ive improved and the fact that ive attributed nearly all of that improvement to this website? you're the one thats close minded
so, how is that neon slap/pop rythm going? You know, it will help alot with your quest to learn Phunkified. A sign of a true musician is someone who will work on his weaknesses.
fyi that is what im working on but its a bit difficult becuz none of the tabs i have designate whether a note is slapped or popped. i would just alternate but then not all the bass notes are slapped. ill have phunkiphied down before this slap/pop.

and i would consider myself one of the better slapper/popper...slap/popper...slap/popperers whatever on this forum. most people cant even do it so itshard for it to be a weakness. my weaknesses are fingerpicking and slide when you hold the guitar on your llap.
how many people have you heard slap/pop? I dont know, I dont think that is fair cause the recordings put here ARE NOT A FAIR REPRESENTATION OF WHAT KIND OF PLAYERS THEY ARE!!!!
ugh... you pick out select words from what i say and then thats all you hear when you read anything i post. i give up.[/quote]

Did you not say that "recording are not a fair representation of the way you play"? Why not say the same for others? Why hold a double-standard? Thing is, they dont bitch about it and just let go and say "that is what I sound like"

alright im going to explain this to you...

if somebody you had never met came up to you when you and asked "do you play guitar?" you would say "yes". so then the guy says, "what kind of player are you?"... i dont know about you but im not gonna start naming songs, im gonna say, "well i play acoustic, kind of agressive, im tryin to work some slap into my style, etc." whenj you record a song, especially a cover, thats in essence what the people on the boards are getting. i dont know what kind of player you are if i just hear your cover of stairway to heaven or whatever song you feel like playin. you know what im sayin? i think the only way to truly get a feel for the type of player a person is is to sit down and jam with them. somebody who is pretty mediocre at guitar has the potential to sit down and cover under the bridge just as well as someone like pat or josh. but pat and josh are much better than mediocre players. am i makin any sense here? conversely ive met players that were terriffic that just cant play anything they havent written. they have so tapped into their style that they cant play with someone elses. through recording, the listener gets a very one-sided view of the player. but, i understand that the only way for somebody in sweden to hear me play is recording, and im not trying to use it as an excuse, because we're all handicapped by it, not just me. thats another reason that someone like mike is a great player. he no only plays well, but records very well too. i hope that all makes sense to someone other than me.

This is the most annoying thread to date. All you have done in this thread is analyze each others words and take them out of context. Seriously guys... WTF?

Hardly...there are threads that were far more annoying than this even has the potential to be.

no one has ever asked me that question after they asked me if i played guitar. most people who ask you if you play guitar will always follow it with "what songs can you play?"

right, and if you talk with a musician they'd often ask, "what type of music are you into"

fair enough. i guess ive never heard anybody ask that question either. but if you think about what kind of player you are i dont think that you think in terms of songs....

basically im tryin to say that the songs someone can play does not necessarily determine the type or level of player they are.

( and whenever people ask me if i play guitar they follow that with "play swwet home alabama!" )
