Ibanez SRT Onboard Tuner

Unread post by deadpickle » Mon Mar 19, 2007 12:03 pm

I just purchased a beautiful Ibanez AEF20 Classical Guitar. It is acoustic-electric and comes with an onboard tuner. I did not pay the tuner much attention at the store. When I got it home and tried to tune it I relized that I do not know much about guitar electronics. When i go to tune it you push in a button that turns the tuner on. But there is another button that says phase on it, what does that do? Also when I go to tune the D and G strings they dont register on the tuner even when they are in tune, what could be causing this? Is there anything I need to do to the tuner to get it to work right?

The phase is something that changes the fase of the output signal: you can avoid a lot of feedback with this button, but it has nothing to do with the tuner.

I don't understand why the D and G don't register on the tuner. Make sure they are not in a different octave and play them stronger. I don't know...

Samash.com's listing for the guitar says that it is a phase reverse switch to help reduce feedback. Not sure why the tuner isn't picking up all the strings.

about the D and G... try and tune the string down and see if it lights up(I'm sure you already tried this)... reason i say this, because on one of my tuners when the string is exactly in the correct standard tuning of that string, the light doesn't light up.....kind of telling you that it is exact.

When the lights get funky and go haywire, change the battery.. i have and ibanez artwood with the tuner built in and that usually does the trick.
