Ive been playing for 2 years now and i have ventured off into soloing. I began by learning scale patterns such as major, minor, and blues. I know there are a lot more scales out there but I was wondering what scales are important to learn escpecially for blues/rock. I use this site to learn the scales incase anyone is interested http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/guitar_scales.php . I record chord progressions and then I practice soloing over them. This was working out good but for a month or two but now I havent been improving. I was told to listen to my favorite guitar players to get ideas but I just dont play the licks they do. I will listen to myself solo and then listen to lets say SRV and just be completely blown away. I know SRV is a legend (my favorite actually) but I feel like I will never get close to his level. Even John Mayer when he plays with the trio plays some great blues. I bought a 101 blues licks book to try and help but i only learned a few licks and techniques that i use when i solo. Also does anyone know good exercises to increase playing speed and picking accuracy that works well. I always get great advice from guitarists on these boards so im turning to the boards before i get lessons.
Im sorry this is unbelieveably long but i was wondering if anyone knows where i can just get drum tracks to songs like srv, hendrix, or just blues style drums. Thanks i hope you guys can help me.

For blues and rock, it sounds like you have the basic scales down. Try to learn the five forms of the Pentatonic so you can move up and down the entire neck freely. It'll expand your playing.
For speed, you can take any lick you've been working on. Preferably a longer one. Play it slowly with a metronome. Pay careful attention to your picking technique, wrist movement, etc. after you can play the lick all the way through, no mistakes, at that steady tempo, bump up the metronome 4 beats or so. Repeat. If you work hard at this, you will eventually get your speed up while maintaining the same good technique you use when playing slowly.
Sorry, but I don't know where to get drum tracks or anything.
Good luck.

Ive learned the full patterns for the minor scale and blues scale and kind of for the major scale. It doesnt take me to long either to be able to play them fully in different keys. I mean I could definitely learn them better but i think i have all the patterns down pretty well. I learned a couple of solos that I like but it really didnt help my improv... I think I just have to listen to guitarists like srv, hendrix, clapton, ect.. like no tomorrow until it just clicks when I try to improv. Thats what I did with dave and then it just clicked when I played dave songs. Does anyone know any forums that pertain more to soloing or good websites that could help me? thanks Cor for the help so far.
Edit: What I really think I need help with is linking the patterns together. Like if Im playing E minor in the 12 postition pattern and switch to another pattern in the same key and scale it wont sound good most of the time. I dont know how to link patterns and use more of the neck in one lick. Also im not good at linking between different scales either. I think those things have a lot to do with the flow.
