Out of curiousity...how much would a fender strat set me back...how about one of the custom shop strats? thanks

Custom shop is at least over $1500 you could get a regular one for $350 just go to musicansfriend.com or music123.com or elderly.com for prices on pretty much everything but Taylors

there's quite a difference between a regular strat and a custom shop strat though...

americans- i think 750
and custom shop is whatever you want on it
