Help: Days of the New - Shelf in the Room
Well, i have relatively zero theory knowledge and i was wondering if someone could tell me step by step how to tune to this. Can it be simplified by using a capo? thanks.
Tuning: Db-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-Db
Tuning: Db-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-Db

Buy a tuner
Alright, here we go
Start by tuning down to Db by holding down the 8th fret of the E string and alternating hitting the E string and the A string until they sound the same.
Your E string is now Db
Now tune down your A string by holding the 7th fret on the E string and alternating hitting the E and the A. Once they sound the same your A string will be Ab
Now pluck your E string and D string together as you tune down your D string. Once they sound the same your D string is Db
Hold down the 5th fret on your D string(Db string) and alternate between your D and G string as you tune down the G. Once they sound the same your G is Gb. Do the same for the B while holding down the 4th fret on your G string
For your high E you can pluck either of your Db strings along with it while you tune down until they sound the same.
Any questions, let me know. i don;t have a guitar in front of me right now so i may have made a mistake somewhere

Were you tightening it? It should have less tension on it than in standard, Im not sure how it would have snapped. Unlesses im completly off right now.MOE.PHISH wrote:ahhhhhhhh mother fucker. i got the thing all tuned, the high E was a little off so i was fucking with it and snapppppppppp. no guitar shop is open. i dont have any back up strings.
this is the very reason i dont mess with alternative tunings.

yeah i was loosening it. this might just be me, but when i try to get a string in tune perfectly i tune down and quickly tune up (the modulation in sound helps me detect right when its in tune) if i feel its not in tune, ill tune it back up...than tune it down again.
it pretty much just comes down to me being a baked retard.

if you had the tuner you wouldn't have to go through all this trouble, this is how you do it without a tuner

At least, the good news is you don't have to buy a whole new set of strings.MOE.PHISH wrote:ahhhhhhhh mother fucker. i got the thing all tuned, the high E was a little off so i was fucking with it and snapppppppppp. no guitar shop is open. i dont have any back up strings.
