Ive played the drums for quite some time now and am interested in learning guitar (being able to play DMB songs is my goal). Other than a personal lesson obviously, what would be the best way to start learning? Any DVDs out there that would suffice? Any books? Personal lessons arent really an option right now so any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
And yes, I will start with buying a guitar.
Learning to play...
I would HIGHLY recommend getting the basics down before you start messing around with the "dave chords". The DMB will come. I think it's most important to get a strong foundation. Plus you can still play lots of cool stuff with standard chords that will help you develop.
Good Luck, and stick with it!

There are plenty of books out there that can help. Keep It Simple Series for guitar and Guitar for dumbies are good starting points for getting the basics and stuff. This site is a good source as well. and of course tons of practice.
