thats weird

and its amazing how much band class has helped my guiatr playing
never took band. i took chorus forever, but you don't have to read music for that, you just have to find the first note and go up and down as the notes of the music go up and down. plus, i had natural ability so i never could just follow along w/o the music. then i played the piano for 6 months and hated it. didn't learn anything. then i played the drums for a couple years, but we all know that if you have rhythm you don't have to know the first damn thing about music to be decent at the drums. the guitar has been the first instrument that ive been interested in and that ive wanted to "figure" something out on. that's probably why i have no ear.

w0odman wrote:well, honestly, why do I need to learn sheet music? Sure it shows rythm. but don't you think tab actually helps you develop your rythm by making you listen to the song to figure it out? I feel no need to read sheet music. I just love playing guitar. Once you interject something that makes it a hard task, it's no longer fun. And I'll say it agian, I am not totally dependant on tab at all. Even though that is mainly how I leaned how to play.
you don't need to use it, but I always found tablature to be a crutch. I am just learning to read treble clef sheet music, because I've been playing on bass clef for years. One part I can't agree with you is that when you add something harder to a task, it makes it not fun. Not true at all man, it makes it more fun. A challenge. You never get anywhere without challenges.

Also, there is a guitar class that I wanna take sometime soon as well... Anyone think it would be a good idea to take the two simultaneously?? I think it would be cool playin guitar all the time! Or, should I take theory first, then the guitar class, or what???
