well said.Ranting Thespian wrote:COme on, you don't need to drink. One thing is to get pumped up. Get excited, get upbeat. Jump around, act goofy. Just go crazy, so when you get out there, you are already energetic. That will help fight against stage fright. Also, if you screw up, or get nervous, make it known. Joke around about it. Don't let it get to you. Watch Dave, he goofs off, and screws around. Do that, it makes them feel like you are up there to have fun, and that's what they want to see, a person who is enjoying the music they are playing. Also, repeat to yourself over and over again, a lot, that you will not let it get to you (or somethint of that teffect). Make a big enterance, too. Also, most stagefright is right before you go on, or after you go on. Once you lose yourself in the moment, nothing matters.

Thank you. I feel totaly relaxed on stage then. I don't play songs fast then. Getting really excited and happy about it, and really looking forward to it, makes me relaxed, since I know what's coming, and I am going to love it. One other good advice, talk to the audience like they are your friend. Treat them like someone you really know. Talk to the audience is one step in getting more comfortable onstage. Then I get out there, like on open mic the other night (that seems like no one saw

why is your answer always alcohol? maybe it's just weird to me since I don't drink, and I try never to be around someone who is drinking.

so basically i should have a few beers, wack it, and try to enjoy myself? ahahaha, sounds good to me. the only reason for the drinking is to help loosen u up. i guarntee it will help if u have the right amount. have u ever tried drinking before? its quite fun actually.

I absolutly hate the taste of alcohol. I have tried so many types of drinks, and spit them all out. I also have been on meds in the hospital that give somewhat of the effect, and I hated it severly. Also, on the meds I am on, it would screw me up so badly that it could be a very bad situation with me. Then the cherry on top, alcoholism runs in my family, so I don't drink, and never will.
Oh, I also don't like being around people who are on anything. It's their right, and I don't think it's wrong to drink and such, but my friends change, and they don't seem like the friends I know anymore. Creeps me out, even after just a glass or two of wine.
So, I'll stick with my way of just getting really looking forward to getting onstage, since it works for me 100%.
