Chords

Unread post by SgtM2 » Sat Feb 11, 2006 4:28 pm

Hey guys. Got a question, but I'm not sure if you'll be able to help. I was watching a Garth Brooks special recently on CMT regarding his "new" album coming out, and he was playing samples. I noticed that he was playing a couple of chords in a G shape, but on like the first and second frets, and also somewhere around the 4th or 5th fret. I've tried to mimmic it, but just can't seem to get the same sounds. Unfortunately, I don't have sample of the music you can listen to, or a video you can watch. If this is familliar to any of you, please let me know.

Thanks,
Rick

You can make G shaped barre chords. First and second frets can't really work with this though.

An A Major would look something like:
542225
Index finger barres the 2nd fret. I don't at all know if this is what you're looking for, but I hope I helped somewhat. These are not easy to form chords

If you slide a G shape up 5 frets so that your root is at the 8th fret, it can sound decent. It also works to slide it up 7 frets. This might be what he's doing, I'm not sure though.

Could it be an E9 or D#9?

Code: Select all

e |------
B |-5--4
G |-5--4
D |-4--3
A |-5--4
E |-------
