Way underrated guitarist. Gets lots of talk for his lyrics, but he has great chops.

Is there anyone who is particularly familiar with his fingerpicking style? I thought I read thumb-index mostly, but that doesn't seem to work out so well for me, especially on songs like "Angeles."

Also, playing and singing "Pitselah" at the same time is a biznotch.

I've just started getting into him, good stuff. Too bad he decided to shove a kitchen knife into his chest. And then do it again.

I've pretty much decided that's the only way to do it. I can't remember where I read thumb/index but that seems damn near impossible.

Yeah i've heard some crazy explanations of elliot smiths picking techniques. I heard that he plays 'southern belle' by putting a pick in between his middle and ring finger..

Well I misspelled it, it's "Pitseleh," but it's the name of a song.

Thanks

http://www.sweetadeline.net/tab.html

That site has three ways to play it. All are pretty good. Great song. Not easy to play.
