I read earlier today on here about whether Dave was self taught or not and took note of the part that Dave said one thing hsi guitar teacher told him never to stop was tapping your foot. I have such bad rythym that if I tried tapping my foot then my origionally bad rythym would just get more fucked up from my off beat foot tapping. :cry:

I've always tapped my foot or twitched in some manner to keep beat. What i usually do is have my right toe on the ground and kind of twitch my leg up and down to the beat. Looks really stupid, but it's automatic for me.
