Ari Hest

Unread post by mattinbeloit » Fri Oct 07, 2005 1:19 am

Have any of you heard of an artist named Ari Hest? If not you should check him out, he has a very cool sound and was influenced alot by dave's music so it is right up our alley. Best of all most of the music is acoustically lead, sweeeet...

I LOVE Ari Hest's music, I've seen him live 3 times in the last year, his band rocks too. If I'm not playin' Dave, I'm usually playin' Ari, his music is very melodic, very lyrically based. I was first introduced to Ari through Dave, Ari was playin' sidestage at a Dave show at the Meadows in Hartford last year, and immediately I was hooked, I love straightforward acoustic rock. Y'all need to check him out. http://www.arihest.com

I take every gif I watch (which is A LOT) with a humongous grain of salt. But I don't let that grain of salt get into my eye and blind me to whatever truth can be found in what I'm watching. He is not any worse than any other poster here, and the people who claim he is just don't know what they're talking about. The demonization has gotten ridiculously out of hand.

http://www.theahsa.com has a bunch of Ari's Tabs, not some of the newer ones, but I learned most of my Ari tunes from that site. He's really fun to play, and I've met him once, he's an extremely sociable guy, but he's like, incredibly tall, it's intimidating, it's hard to tell he's that tall when he's on stage. But all 3 times I've seen him play (2 full band shows and one duo with his bassist, Rob Calder), I've been so close I could've spit on his guitar (not that I would, of course. :D )

That's hard to judge.. i've seen some "long ball" spitters. Now if you said you were so close you could reach out and grab a handful of Ari Hest's genitals, that would paint a much clearer picture for us.

I love Consistency, used to be able to play it but I forget it now. I need to learn that again, and listen to some more of his music. I also like Aberdeen, Caught Up In Your Love, and Good Intentions.

Alright, well, maybe not a handful of Ari's genitals, but maybe a handful of Matt Beck's genitals, the electric guitarist's  . Matt Beck is actually really really good, he plays lefty, but doesn't restring upside down, so when he plays, the low E string is closest to the floor, and the high E string is closest to the top, it's wild to watch him play. And yes, Consistency is a great song, it's all in the rhythm, and nailin' that harmonic he does, took me a while to nail it.

I Like Ari. I got into him around 2001 but never got to see him play live. Pound for Pound is a cool song to play.
