but I CAN sing like Jason Mraz.. I know I can do it!heh. been reading up on voice, and though it's been said, i have to reiterate- don't imitate anyone else at all- that's not helping your voice any, and the only thing it's developing is your style, not the voice itself, plus sometimes it won't be in your range and you're going to be straining your voice, which is bad because practicing that way will only get you in the habit of doing it wrong. i'll see if i can get you a copy of some sites to help ya out.
I disagree with the top quote here...you can practice singing any style you want, i just wouldn't recommend mimicing (sp?) one style in particular...by trying to practice Dave, Mraz, Mayer, Sexton, or whoever you will be exposed to so many different styles...after practicing from a mixture of listening to various artists you will eventually be able to control your voice and 'custom' your own style...(eventually meaning, over time and practice practice)...every artist you here has singing roots from some type of artist/artists that they've been exposed to in their musical life...it's just human nature where eventually everything you practice/study/imitate will culminate into your own style some how....i'd say be as versatile as you can be...it will help you find your own style and comfort level a lot quicker... that's my approach anyway (ps...Mraz has an incredible voice)God_Fearing_Man wrote:but I CAN sing like Jason Mraz..
