I just bought a pretty bad ass guitar strap today that looks almost like the ones above, but with a few circular holes in it and what not, but that's not the point of this thread...

My question is, what end of the strap goes to the back of the guitar and which goes in the front. I got a pin put in at the base of the neck which is what I mean when I say 'front'. I couldn't stand tying the strap underneath the strings, it'd get in the way and I couldn't reach the 1st or 2nd frets. So anyways, do I put the end shown in front, or the slimmer end of the strap there?

The end that you see right now is what I would qould put in the front. I always see guys with those fitting slitls at the top somehwre at the middle of their back. I thought it was skinny end at the back?

I thought the fat end was to hold the guitar up better.

anyway, the end with one hole goes in the 'front' of the guitar.

I can't imagine doing it the other way around. Look at any guitar player with the strap button at the heel of the neck or on the top horn. That's just how it is. If the strap is tied around the headstock, that might be different. But I still disagree.

The fat part of the strap (shown above) is fat for a reason ... to distribute the weight of the guitar over the shoulder/neck area. The hole at the fat end of the strap (again, shown above) goes around the strap button at the heel (aka, neck block). The hole at the skinny end of the strap (not shown above) goes around the strap button at the butt (aka, end block).

I've never seen them attached any other way.
