seven weeks off

Unread post by westpointsucks » Sun Aug 14, 2005 12:36 pm

Hey everybody i just finished seven weeks of basic training at the Military academy and so i havn't played any guitar for about two months now.

I played guitar for two years and was just wondering how bad my skills would be hurt by these two months off. Does that severely set me back or will I be just a touch rusty?

What a great website!

First, dmbtabs-welcome to it.

Second, it probably depends on your level of experience. Honestly, you will almost certainly regress somewhat, but the better you are, the less you will. I would suggest, though, that you try to pick up right where you left off. I think this would force you to get back to where you were pretty quickly.

And thanks for your dedication to the country.

i just took like 5 weeks off and im struggling. im the worst at chord fingerings. LLD chorus used to be fun to play, now its tough
For us living any other ways was nuts. with all the goodie-goodies working shitty jobs for bum pay checks, took the subway work and worried about their bills were dead. they were suckers, they had no balls. if we wanted something we just took it, and if anybody complained twice they got hit so hard believe me they never complained again

you may regress some, but ill tell you that you regain some joy of songs that you may have gotten tired of.. i know that if i play a song a lot and get tired of it, then play it again weeks later, i regain a lot of fun out of playing the song....
