Best Bass for <$200

Unread post by fraggle » Fri Sep 05, 2003 1:31 pm

I am going to buy a bass soon for recording purposes, and don't really want to spend anymore than 200 for it. I just want to get something that will sound ok, but not cost me too much. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I'm looking too. Are you interested in an acoustic bass? I'm leaning towards this:

I got my Fender Squier P-Bass (i think that's what it's called) for something like $100. It sounds fine for what I wanted, nothing fancy, but it just works. I know how everyone feels about Squiers, but i'm just detailing my experience.

Again, what type of music are you going to be playing?

Different basses will give out different sounds. What will you be playing?

I just want a tool for all trades. I want something that will do the job somewhat well for everything. I imagine most of it will be rock...

I lost one on an eBay auction. I think the high bid was $202. I wanted to try and get it for $200 with shipping...

whatcha gotta do is call two different stores...say daddys junky music and guitar center..ask for the prices, and say to one of em "thanks anyway, but i'm gonna get it at _______ because its cheaper, unless you guys wanna match the price?" then you go back and forth, get them competing with one another. thats how i got my ibanez acoustic bass for like 200 instead of the 335 online.
