I also have a Daddy's Junky music in Manchester. That's like 30 minutes from here, but they let you try out anything there. Last time I tried out some 6 string basses, now that was a good time.

Secondly, I like elixirs strings now. haha. They're just more comfortable. Even with my callouses....

Also, i played a twelve string for the first time today. I played grey street and big eyed fish. It sounded so great compared to the six. I kinda don't get it though. Is the second string in each pair an octave of the first? What ever it is it sounds great. haha
yeah, elixirs are definitely my choice now too.

you know, though, i much prefer playing big-eyed fish on a 6 string. i just really prefer that... not sure what to call it, hard finality that the sharp stroking on the 6 string gives you. sounds meaner that way. pantala naga pampa sounds really good on a 12 string though.

and yeah, on the eadg strings, the higher string is an octave higher. the b and the e are just doubled up though.

so i've never been to a guitar center... this some sort of american invention?
Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall...

I hate guitar center...that place just sucks...sleezy salesmen and unkept instruments. those guitars in there are in desperate need of setups most of the time. I just can't stand those guys. when I was getting my first guitar, this guy conned us into buying a used Martin D-35 with a pickup already installed and a case for $1000...not bad considering it was in perfect condition, no? We weren't going to spend that much for a first guitar but it was a good deal on a D-35...it said Shenandoah on the headstock though. Questioning this, the salesmen said that's just where they were made that year. We get home, find out it's a piece of crap Shenandoah D-35 list priced at $400 bluebooking at something like $160...this special guitar he pulled out for us to "hook us up" was him just straight up raping us. Thank God for the return policy. My dad went in and blasted the manager and the manager tried to get the guy to come talk but he wouldn't even show his face. Sleezy cockfaced guy was too big of a pussy. But my dad was just a marginal guitarist w/ little knowledge and I even less than him, so we saw firsthand just how they take advantage of people who don't know what's up. They just make me incredibly angry. I've seen them pull so much crap too with people other times I've been there. I don't know how they sleep...

Well that sucks man. that guy was an asshole. What a dirtbag. That's a horrible thing. I've never had that trouble though. The people who help me out are always really nice and have never screwed me over at all.

Just because one guitar center sucks doesn't make em all bad. The one I went to was quite nice actually.
