Walkin' on a country road

Unread post by Davehasbangs » Fri Jun 10, 2005 1:39 am

Its really frustrating trying to find james taylor tabs that are actually useful. Like.. Everyone just gives out the chords they get from those junk
songbooks. but listen to him play.. its fingerpicking~!. Does anyone know of a proper tab for for country road and/ or a tabsite that has fingerpicking tabs for jt.

Thanks.
Dave's style is very unique. He uses his pinky.

hmm, I could maybe figure one out for you...the reason why people probably don't tab it though is that it takes FOREVER to tab finger-picked stuff if you want it to be good and most people just aren't meticulous enough nor patient enough to do it. I'll see if I can work something out for you...maybe just some of the licks? JT is my hero though and this is actually a song I haven't bothered learning so it'd be good for the both of us...

ok, I just played along w/ it and have come to the conclusion that what would probably really help you is tabs to help you just get JT's style down as that's really the trick to any of his songs...there's so much repitition in his stuff and if you get some basics down, the songs really open up a lot more and really take on that JT feel. I will tab a lot of stuff out as well as the basic licks and voicings of this song so you can hopefully nail it, but I need a good tab editor for a Mac...the text program on this doesn't line stuff up right...if someone could help me out w/ that, I'll get stuff to you right off the bat.

Hey man thanks. Yea its true that it would take alot of patience to write all that stuff out. I just figured how old his tunes were, that he would have some dedicated site up by now. but maybe its me who needs some patience. Yea, on his greatest hits album, you do hear a pattern and this one lick he uses to keep his songs together. its the same riff used a million times in country road. _intro_

thanks
