It's from The Electric Company, an old kids television show. That particular segment helped kids learn how to read.checkii wrote:i dont get itKahnTheRevelator wrote:bwahahahhaahahahahahabbatsell wrote:filmdude100cms wrote:ive never seen mayer play a taylor, hmmm always either one of his dm3md's or his signature, or another marth OM, or his fenders.

Not wider, thicker. I tried out various Martins before I bought my 414 and it does indeed have a thicker neck. Not hugely so, but it was noticeable.KahnTheRevelator wrote:me neither, but I remember that episode of Family Giy and it made me lol.checkii wrote:i dont get it
As far as Taylors, I wasn't aware that they had a wider neck.

A standard 6 string Taylors come with a 1-3/4 inch neck ( Dave's 6 string Taylors). 12 string models (except the new 12 string GA size) come with a standard 1-7/8 inch neck (Dave's 12 string Walnut Taylor). Baby Taylors come with a 1-11/16 inch neck, just like the sandard 6 string Martins (DM3MD, HD-28 ). You can custom order any size neck you want but it might cost you more.
Wider necks are prefered by fingerstyle guitarist for obvious reasons. You'll see the wide necks in almost all classical nylon string guitars.
When I say wide I mean the width of the fretboard not the thickness of the neck. Most Martins have V necks or semi Vneck ( like the DM3MD), most Taylors (I think all Taylors) have a low profile neck. I think that's what they call it.
