Takamine EG334SC
I was saving to get a Taylor or Martin... but picked up thsi guitar.. and... dammit I loved it so I bought it..
anybody else played one?
It might just be because I had a cheap epiphone and a Yamaha before, but this guitar just sounds so nice...

"Will the people in the cheaper seats clap your hands? And the rest of you, if you'll just rattle your jewelry." John Lennon, 1963, at the high point of the group's set during the Royal Variety Performance before members of the British Royal Family

The Harper quote is from How Many Miles Must We March (A song off Welcome to the Cruel World...)
Amazing song, by the way.
As for the guitar....
6 String Acoustic / Electric
Body Shape: Dreadnought C/A
Rosette: Concentric Rings
Top: Solid Spruce
Inlays: None
Back: Ovangkol
Sides: Ovangkol
Fingerboard: Rosewood
Electronics: N4B
Tuners: Gold
Features: Bound Fretboard

(you can see a picture of it there - I got the wood/"natural" finish, not the black one)...
Either way.. It was $700 at one store in T.O. but I saw it in another for $600... liked the tone, the feel, the look... So I got it... it sounds pretty damn sweet....

Congrats on the new guitar! Looks pretty sweet. Every single Takamine I've played I have been impressed with.
and How Many Miles Must We March is the best song on Cruel World. I wake up to The Three of Us every morning.

That album might be the strongest album (lyrically) I have ever listened to.
There is nothing Harper doesn't cover.
And thanks on the guitar thing..
Like I said, I wanted to go up a bit in the "class range," and get a Martin or Taylor... but I had the money for this.. and I liked the guitar far too much to not get it.. I suppose that ,as a student.. I don't really need a Taylor or Martin now anyway... Maybe if I was getting consistent gigs, but for one gig every two months.. this will be good enough.

I have a takamine too, an EG-230. Takamine mini jumbos fucking rule.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away
