I think it sounds better when you play it in the original position that John plays it in. Its the bar chord of X7999X that goes into the 798877 chord. If you're looking for good tab, (tabbed from video of John playing it on an acoustic) try this link: http://jftab.free.fr/html/tabs/live_pep ... live91.txt

this was tabbed from a live interview that Anthony Keides and John Frusciante did in Amsterdam back in the early 90's. You can also find the actual video on the website so you can watch how he plays it. Also on the site is the album version of the song (tabbed with the intro). Just look under albums-tablature-BSSM. This is a great site and a really cool song to learn. The intro is a little different than what you guys have been talking about. In the original version, John bars on the 2nd fret (or uses a capo) and plays the intro fingerpicked. But I play it in the first position and fingerpick the chords. Its sounds fine and works well into the verse section of the song. Well....hope this was helpful.

Yup, jftab.com is really good at RCHP tabs.

Version #3 on that site is the most accurate transcription of the song, trust me (i've studied many videos and live concerts of John playing, he's amazing).

The only thing different that John does from the Version #3 is during the "One Time" part at the end that comes in right before the "Under the bridge downtown" part. For this part he plays like it is posted here:

And like dmplayer said, you shoud dowonload that Amsterdam video or watch any live video of John, he's got amazing skills. His solo stuff is also extrememly extremely good!

Oh, and just one more quick thing...

Definately play this song the way YOU want to play it. But if you want to practice John's style then use the links above.

Here's that Version 3 link I was talking about:

http://jftab.free.fr/html/tabs/blood_su ... bridge.txt

PS: And yup, John does NOT use a capo. Never did in any song, I'm 120% positive :)
