Bubble Toes Q?

Unread post by granny_dmb41 » Mon Feb 21, 2005 10:53 pm

hey all,
ive always wondered about how to do this chord and since i have another Q about bubble toes i figured id do both now. the chord for example x35553 which is played in the bubble toes verse. how do you play that? are you supposed to play the 5's barred with your ring finger? thats what it looks like jack is doing in 8/11/03. i tried playing it like that but cant get all the strings to ring, so is that how you play it with the ring finger barred? as of now im just playing it from 355433 into x35543 and sliding over to the C just to get the rhythm down, but i cant get the x35553

also, does ne one have the correct tab for the little riff that jack does in the middle of the song, ive searched but cant find the right one, thanks

I play it with my ring fingure barring the three 5's. However, my teacher uses 3 figures to bar it. So i guess whatever works..cheers,

jake

I play any x35553 just like you said, barring my ring finger across the D, G and B strings. Some people do it with their pinky instead. Some people will teach you to bar 3 with your index, and then use your middle, ring and pinky to fret each of the 5's separately, but I think thats harder than barring with either your ring or pinky. Just gotta practice it and develop some flexibility in those fingers. As for the riff, do you mean this???

e----------------------------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------------------------
G----------------------------------------------------------
D------------------------------2---2---2---4---2---------
A------------2---3--^5-----------------------------5---3
E---3---3-----------------3-------------------------------

that f# on the d string on the riff should just be an f

and don't worry about getting all the strings to ring, it'll come and it really doesn't matter...they're just power chords anyway...when playing jack's stuff, just worry about getting good sound from your muting and shiat
B+P by offer only...thank you

Honestly, dont worry about the 3 on the high e string, just do a power chord and get the three 5's with your ring finger, no one can tell the difference and odds are jacks not even playing the high e. as for the little run:

Code: Select all

------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------
-----2-3-5--------------7-7-7-7-7/9-7-5-3
-3-3-------3~--x-x-x-x--------------------
I have all the JJ tabs from Catherines site printed out and I just rewrote this from her tab so you can be sure its right

hey all, thanks for helping. yea ive just mainly been worried about getting that e to ring, but i guess if its not a big deal it wont be as hard to do. as for the riff^^^^ that was the tab i was using too but then i watched 8/11/03 and jack doesnt slide down to the 7th fret, which leads me to believe that the previous post way up there was more accurate. imo from the video..

for the riff, i play it both ways, its the same notes, so it doesnt really matter, jacks just running inside of a G scale, so the note is an F# not an F
for the chord, x35553, what i do is barre the 5th fret with my ring finger, at first i couldnt get a sound out of the 3rd 5 (E note) but with practice your finger will get stronger and it will come good

I'm confused. Isn't Catherine's site the kickass John Mayer tabs site? I didn't know she had JJ tabs as well.
