What is a hand slap and how do you do it?

It says to do a hand slap. I'm not sure is that the same as just hammering the entire fret with your index finger?

that was uncalled for...

its hard to explain but basically its the slapping of your right hand or thumb or something on a string. to give it a thwack sound

where it says hand slap in that tab i believe its talking about the harmonics, which i do with my index finger when its in the strumming section and my thumb across the top 4 strings in the intro.

Mayer does it alot. Watch his sessions@aol videos and you will see. clarity and why georgia have a lot of it.
