The flecktones *drools*. They are one of the greatest bands I have ever seen live. Vic is probably the best bass player I know. His solo stuff is alright. I prefer his songs where he just plays solo bass, as opposed to the songs he plays with his little band. And yeah...it is elevator music. But yeah, checkin' out the flecktones is a great idea, they are amazing. I went to a show, and there was basically a 40 minute jam. It was incredble.

oh there are so many...i actually don't know that much about them...
As I said I cant really listen to a band without lyrics for a really long time straight but I just listened to Big Country and Stomping Ground for the first time and wow, that was some pretty good shit. Maybe Ill have to rethink the Flecktones, Id kinda given up on them but that shit almost makes up for the lack of lyrics. Deffinatley good stuff.

Stomping Grounds and Big Country are my two favorite songs, and Sinister Minister  :D

p.s: jsgksu if you like the sounds of the flecktones but want some lyrics, try Yonder Mountain String Band, they are pretty bluegrassy but I really like em and in terms of their sound they are kind of like the flecktones.

One flecktones song that I really like that I saw live was Sherpas. It should come out in the next few months on their CD.

i have a kind of funny bela story... 2 years ago he and edgar meyer (a badass double bass player who happens to be a professor at my school) were getting ready to do a show in new york, and decided to do a practice run of sorts at the recital hall here. it was strictly word of mouth, not advertised at all. so me and my friends were standing in the lobby waiting for the place to open, when in walks bela with his banjo and guitar cases. he walks up to us and says, "hey guys... do you know if this place is open yet or not?" all i could think was "holy shit, this is the best banjo player in the world, and he's standing right here".. we all just stood there going "uhhhhh... i don't know" i think we were all in too much awe to think straight. anyways, the show turned out to be amazing, they played everything from flecktones stuff to mozart and bach to bluegrass. there were maybe 50 people there watching...it was very cool
