Jamie Cullum fans....tab interest??

As of late, I've been on a fairly big Jamie Cullum kick... I really love his cover of Radiohead's "High and Dry" and started fooling around on the guitar to transcribe this cover. SUCCESS!

I pretty much have it nailed...and it sounds a lot better on guitar than you'd probably think.

So, if anyone is interested in the tabs for this cover of a cover ( :lol:

), just say the word, and I'll post it up.

Absolutely. I just saw him last night actually, last show of his tour. Phenomenal show.

Good stuff guys...I was really taken back by him the first time I saw his "twentysomething" video on VH1. Especially considering the majority of modern "pop" music I can't stand. Really struck me as a diamond in the rough!

Anyways...I'll post it up later tonight or tomorrow. It'll just be straight up tabs...it's in drop-d, so I don't technically know the chord names and such. Either way, I feel confident in my ear, playing abilities and my ghetto transcribing...lol.

Ummm.......Jamie Cullum is far from pop music there dude. I dont know of many people that have even heard of him, plus he is a Jazz pianist so many teenagers and people in their 20s would think hes dum.

Though he is really cool. I wish he would have recorded more originals on his cd but it was awesome.

I think he was saying that it was amazing to see an artist like Jamie on VH1 when all they play is pop music type stuff.

edit: he's also not just a pianist, by the way. he's also a great drummer and plays guitar on a couple of songs (he plays a full taylor dreadnaught for all of you trivia-lovers).

Awesome, yes post that tab!! I love that cd of his. Very fresh and nice to listen to. If there were any song on that cd I would want a guitar tab for, it would have been High and Dry, I love Radiohead.

Nah, I know man... I suppose I worded that sentence poorly, but I meant something along the lines of what TrippnBill686 said. And while I don't really consider him "pop," his music strikes me as "pop" influenced. For one, like you mentioned, he's a Jazz based musician. The fact that teenagers and 20-somethings, who aren't normally Jazz fans, will and already do know of his music definately says something about the "pop" nature of it...just my two cents anyhow.

A couple of quick things first...

- This tab is, by no means, "written in stone." It's simply what I play for this cover of a cover.

- This is a very rough tab. I didn't bother to include any kind of hint as to the strumming patterns or rhythm...but it should be obvious to you if you know this cover.

- Kinda going back to the first point I made... A number of these chords are interchangeable. They only differ by a note or two, so see what sounds best to you at which point in the song. The chords I am speaking of: (6-8-6-8-x-x, 6-8-8-x-x-x, 6-6-6-x-x-x, 6-3-6-5-x-x)

- There are NO open strings played in this tab. I didn't feel like adding in mute tabs, sooo....if it's not fretted, mute it/don't play it.
