Happy does not even begin to describe me

Unread post by filmdude100cms » Sat Oct 30, 2004 5:55 pm

Damn, im so damn lucky...

i went into a small music store today, looking for some dunlop ultex picks. no one else in town had them, they did not either but he posed an iteresting question to me...

"do you ever do any recording" i responded with a no, that bassically what i did was threw my recorder on a bed or somethin, and sat down and jammed and recorded that.... he then said, they were almost done making their own recording studio next door, and im expecting the next words outa his mouth to be "and were having a special promotional deal, since were new and looking for new people... only $50 an hour"

i was wrong i got the stuff up to the ... right, but after that he said "first track is free, and after that its $5... its not gonna be like a fully mixed track, closer to a live recording, it wont be mixed or blended like a full recording we would do would provide, but for the cost, it is an amazing offer."

so he takes me to look at their studio, and its pretty nice... infact, the room has amazing acoustics, and is large enough, to in his words "bring some friends in and have a little concert"

soooo, then i went to another studio in town (the only other studio in town) and talk to him... he charges $50 an hour, and was givin me all these numbers, and stuff.... not important here... soo towards the end, he says "well since you do have a recorder at home, like jam somethin out, bring it in, and ill listen to it, and give you some pointers, critique it and what not for free..." he also said he could re-mix CD's and what not, for the same price, but itd be quicker.

so im bassically planning on recording 5-6 tracks with a friend of 2, at the first studio, and get up a $100 or so and have it professionally mixed at the other place.

wow, this afternoon has been an orgasm of discovery.

I suppose I could.

Well, probably not. But I do have it for whenever I want it.

Are you going to be recording originals?

Yeah, that's cool. I'd say try singing yourself. Oh, and work out some second guitar parts for the songs. It'll give it some added spice. Also make sure that they mic your guitar (not direct input), preferably in stereo. I have a rough track in thread about my studio work, in case you wanted to see how it turned out.

oh i know, my guitar sounds amazing unplugged, and good plugged up, and since mostly they have like stacks and stuff there, and no acoustic stuff i was plannin on micing it.....

and i think i am gonna sing it myself. and get my friend (honest to god hes the next SRV...) to do some backup acoustic stuff.
