Lung Capacity

Unread post by filmdude100cms » Tue Aug 24, 2004 7:13 pm

This is really guitar, but i think it fits here.

I can sing with guitar now, pretty good, but my lungs dont hold enough to like sing a long time, so i have to sing quieter so as to sing it right...

i dont smoke btw...

anyway any ways to increase lung capacity, to sing louder.

Sing from your stomach not your chest. You'll be able to hold a note for much longer.

there is only one guy that i know of that can do that, and that is kenny g. since there are countless other saxophonist that dont/cant do it, im going to assume that it is damn hard to do. whether or not that is the case, im not sure if that is even possible to circular breathe and sing at the same time.

when he says sing from your stomach, he means push the air with your stomach... as for ways to get better, sing a lot. I don't know if you're driving yet, but I sing all the time in the car, which helps. Also, if you ever get a throat sickness, sing as much as you can, it will help loads. Drink water before you sing too.

Try the slow leak.

Just take a nice deep breath and let the air out gradually through your teeth(it should make a sound like air leaking out of a tire). Start out by going for 30 seconds and then go longer from there.
Just remember that you don't need a lot of air to sing you need it to be even and constant. In fact too much air will inhibit your singing particularly for the higher notes.

Who need circular breathing?

I say, go for Tenacious D's inward singing.
