My guitar going sharp?

Unread post by Jay » Sun Apr 27, 2003 1:14 pm

over the last week or so, i have noticed that my guitar is going sharp. all 6 strings. it stays more or less in tune with itself, but if i try to play along with an album is sounds like ass and then i have to re tune it. is this normal? i dont understand what could make strings get tighter, especially with me playing it....

Are you in a room where the temperature changes a lot? Also, how old are your strings?

the strings are only about 2 weeks old. it is a dorm room, so the temp does change a bit. i'm sure the humidity does too. and i'm sure all this is not good for my guitar lol :(

depending on what type or how much you paid gor your guitar, the neck might just need a little adjustment...

you have to remember, a lot of times, the audio on cd's is played back slower than it was originally recorded at so some cd's are actually flat anywhere from a quarter step to a whole step. so it could just be that you're trying to play with a cd that's flat.
