Help identify this song!

Unread post by Willin » Thu Jul 08, 2004 10:14 pm

Hey, guys. I would *really* appreciate it if someone could help me found out the name of this song. See, I was shopping in Hollister today and this song came on. It's a corny song, but I dug it. I know it's not exactly rock, but I really want to know the name of this song. The thing is that I memorized some of the main chorus lyrics so I could find out what it was when I got home later in the evening... but of course when I got home I couldn't remember it. Here's all of the clues that I can give you. If anyone knows the name of this song, you deserve a medal.

-Like I said, it's a corny love song.
-It's one guy playing it solo on an acoustic guitar and singing.
-It's somewhat slow.
-The main lyrics are something like "I can't take my eyes off of you." or "Whenever I see your eyes...(something here)" All I can remember is that the main verse had something about eyes in it.
-That main line consists of almost the entire song. Like, he keeps singing it over and over.
-It was definetly a young white guy singing it. His voice wasn't high and raspy. It sounded kind-of John Mayerish, I guess you could say?

I would reallllllllllly appreciate it if someone could spout out names of songs that it might be. Like I said, I know it's a cheesy song, but ya gotta listen to that stuff sometimes. Thanks a bunch for any help! It's killin' me that I can't remember it!

It's not Jeffrey Gaines's cover of In Your Eyes, is it?

Damien Rice? It's a beautiful song.

The Blower's Daughter

And so it is just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
most of the time
And so it is the shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her sky

I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...

And so it is just like you said it should be
We'll both forget the breeze
Most of the time
And so it is the colder water
The Blower's Daughter
The pupil in denial

I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...

Did I say that I loathe you?
Did I say that I want to
Leave it all behind?

I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind...
my mind...my mind...
'Til I find somebody new
Stay with me, safe and ignorant.

lyrics101, i've got a question for ya. Do you happen to know what the title of the song is in reference to? It's called Blower's daughter, but... what or who is the blower's daughter?
