I often find myself learning songs half assed. Like I'll learn the verse and chorus and be over it, and forget the jams and what. But right now on bass I'm learning two step, and on guitar it's Grey Street. But this 60 dollar 4-year old guitar doesn't cut it

These song's I've been learning for a while... Everyone once in a while I'll learn another few measures or so.
Best version of Classical Gas I ever heard was by Tommy Emmanuel, the finger picking king. Clapton does a decent version though.

The version I heard was off Limewire and it said it was him but who knows. I guess it might not be him but why do you find it hard to beleive Clapton would cover that song? He is always playing old stuff and brining it back.

Well, I would say mute any strings you're not using when those chords come up so you can use a pick.
No...because your killing the song by using a pick, classical is to be finger picked in order to keep the bass notes properly, it just takes practice to finger pick, just arpeggiate basic chords with your fingers to practice. I'll post some of my old lessons online if anyone wants them...
Well, in this particular song, and 90% of them are single notes, so you'll just be picking them with one finger anyway... I usually use my thumb and index finger. It's better to learn it now and fingerpick it later when you can....

Try these songs for practice with finger picking:

1. Good Riddance - Greenday
2. Nothing Else Matters - Metallica
3. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
4. Dust In The Wind - Kansas
5. Landslide - Fleetwood Mac/cover by Smashing Pumpkins

If you need the sheet music or guitar tablature for these songs, just P.M. me. Here's a classical piece called Romanza:

Oh, by the way Bill: Is there anywhere else I could get your songs besides the site that you posted a while ago? My email's been having some problems and I haven't been able to sign up, though I'd like to hear your stuff seeing as it recieved good reviews on that site.

Stairway to heaven!! The whole thing. I'm slowly making progress.

Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead

did eric clapton even do a version of classical gas? or is that a mistake? because its not his song, it was written by mason williams and i can't find any info on if clapton did a version.
Yes, I have a version of Clapton playing it.
