I read once that Tim goes thru a 1mm tortex each show. Take what you want from that.

What kind of playing are you doing? If you're picking, I would say stick to a medium, and try a soft pick of you're strumming. For most of Dave's stuff where both is required I'd say stick to a medium, but don't dig into the strings when you strum. Make an effort to strum lightly. It may be the pick... And you could indeed try letting up a bit to see of that's the case.

I got the same problem except after 3 minutes! Not only that...the pick rotates in my fingers when I play songs like Rodeo Clowns. It's a 50mm Tortex. Don't even mention the 60mm.

Another reason I don't use a pick.

I have never filed down a pic to where I noticed it, in fact this is the first time I ever even heard about that. I just thought everyone lost them before they wore out.

When he's playing solo.

Still, I have no clue how he plays such fast shit without a pick. His fingers are like a bloody hummingbird.

All picks wear down eventually. I rotate my picks so that I dont play any one too much.

broke my first pick last nite - one of those dunlops with the native mask on it 0.6mm. was playing watchtower and grey street (a few times with the CP dvd), and i was hammering on my 412. didn't realize the pick cracked till i was putting my guitar away. that pick had the wear and tear of many hours of play on it tho.
