I bought an Ibanez archtop off Ebay about a year and a half ago and had no problems. You just have to be careful. If the deal sounds too good to be true it probably is. My only problem with buying a guitar there is that you can't play it before you buy it.

there are some signs to check - low feedback, out of the country sales, strangely low prices, etc.

I bought my 12 string of Ebay, it was a great deal. Saved a couple hundred bucks. I made sure they had buyers protection and insurance. I won it in the last 10 seconds too, mu ha ha ha ha! It's the only way to bid.

yea ebay is not bad at all. if the seller lies or says something like its mint, and its not you can talk to an ebay rep and get it handled no prob. you can buy with confidence and trust me ebay will fuck someone up if they send you a piece of shit.

i got my PRS offline and saved 300 bucks so i would say its good and plus if you havnt played the guitar you are gonna buy, then you are mildly retarded.

just my opinion.

Know the guitar, get the serial number if available. Put everything in writing and use certified mail when making payment if by mail.

I've made side deals with people selling things on Ebay successfully on a few occassions, ending the auction early even.

If you really want something, get all the info you can from the seller and make them an offer to buy the guitar outright.

There are some good guitars out there on Ebay. Especially older axes.

Good luck

i have bought guitars off of ebay, the only way i would pay a lot of money for a guitar on ebay is if it was a DM3MD, but people ask to much for them when they are on there, and if the person gave me a return guarentee. I've bought 2 Ibanez Artwood guitars on there and I loved both of them, i have since sold one, the other i have made it a custom, professional set up, pickup, removed the pickguard.

I bought a epi chet off of ebay. I bought for travel so I didnt really care. I saw the pictures and they were pretty decent. I got the guitar and let me tell you, mint condition. Not a scratch. It usually works out for the best.

I would personally never buy a guitar that I didn't play first. A guitar can look mint but still play and sound like crap.

I've bought 4 and sold one. Two of the guitars I bought I had to have set up cause the action wasn't great. After that, they played very well and I was happy. The set-up was $15... not that big of a deal. Overall, I'm thumbs-up on buying and selling on eBay.
