First gig and setlist...looking for advice.
K, so I've played some open mic nights with some friends. Just some good, fun stuff. However, I have a real gig in a couple weeks that will actually pay. Woohoo! I'm a little nervous to say the least. We're the opening band so that helps a little I guess. Rather than playing a couple 2 or 3 songs like normal, we've got the stage for an 90 minutes. We're doing some originals, but mostly covers. Here's the setlist guys. Comments, questions...and oh yeah, advice. There's a spot where we're unsure of what we're gonna do. Originally, we were going to do an acoustic version of Whole Lot of Love, but decided to scrap it. Here's the set anywho.
You Don't Know How it Feels- Tom Petty cover
My My, Hey Hey - Neil Young
(Don't know what the fuck to do next)
The Story of When I Was Five - original song about Mario Bros.
Say It Ain't So - Weezer
Lucky - Seven Merry Three
Mud Football - Jack Johnson ----->
Caress Me Down - Sublime
Cosmic Shame - Tenacious D
At the Pub - original
So basically, we have two acoustics, one jimbe drum, and a harmonica in E. I kind of want to do a DMB cover after the Young song, but I'm at a loss for what might sound good with a bongo and a harmonica in E. If not a DMB song, what else do you guys like to play at your shows/in your spare time? I'll post audio of the show in the proper thread when the time comes. But what would you guys suggest?

welcome, its hard for me to think of other blues traveler stuff, cause i dont listen to them much, and as far as dmb drum solos u no say goodbye just is awesome, and the fact that it is bongos (or atleast sounds close enought that my lack of drumming knoledge will be ok) so i cant say much else about what to play.
btw what band are u opening for?

those arent bongos in say goodbye. regular set with "blast sticks". If you really wnated to do it, youd have to have a shit load of bongos. Carter uese his entire set for that verse.filmdude100cms wrote:as for dmb... hmmm "say goodbye" has a good bongo thing, and some harmonica if u want. for other stuff, i dont no, some bluestraveler's "hook" might work

Hey you guys, thanks for all the suggestions!
Y'all came up with some cool stuff, but my bandmates liked the idea of Pig the best. We worked on it a bit and it sounds pretty cool. So, thanks God_Fearing_Man! Thanks to all of y'all too for helping out. I'll post audio if we can get it.
