Why does my D string keep breaking??
Why does my D string keep breaking??
I have to change strings every two weeks or less because my D string breaks. Does anyone know why this keeps happening, and what I can do about it?
Thanks
Jess

might have something on your fretboard or on the bridge that's rubbing against it the wrong way if it's breaking in the same place, give that a look
B+P by offer only...thank you

i had the same problem,i broke a string almost everyday, i just moved to a higher gauge. then when i moved back down a gauge the problem was gone, maybe it cleared out some obstruction or something.
so yeah, try what DMBfan said. and maybe switch to a higher gauge , because they'll tend to break less frequently

Just check the guitar out for barbs or wood that is breaking the string.

I'm sorry for not giving you attribution

This was exactly my problem on my old Fender Stratocaster.bryanwie wrote:Make sure that your saddle does not have notches in it. When you hit the strings, they roll ever so slightly. The strings sitting in notches stops this from happening, and increases the chance of breakage. It might be time for a new saddle.
Stay with me, safe and ignorant.
