Bone Saddles

Unread post by two steps too many » Tue Mar 04, 2003 4:47 am

I've heard a few people say how much an improvment replacing the plastic or composite saddle with bone can make, and was wondering if anyone here has done it on whatever guitar, and how the sound changed after doing so

i carved a bone saddle for my guitar and it sounded a heck of a lot louder for one thing. and just more of a bell shape tone. yeah so for now on, any new guitar i buy i am gonna fashion a new saddle along with it. for sure.

just be exacting when making the saddle. to make it look just like the old one (or reasonably close). little burrs can be disasterous. i used a file and some fine sand paper and, oh man, it is just awesome...
