Better Guitarist?

Try to be as unbiased as possible. I think it's Santana, no doubt.

i love tim to death but after listening to santanas stuff for so long i have to think he is the better over all player.

although i must say that this is a kind of unfair question.

like comparing apples and oranges.

Santana's stuff just seems too recycled and obvious. It drives me nuts.

I think Tim has a lot more variety to his music. I just think of Santana as redundundant.

Santana's work is much more melodic. You can hum his guitar lines, whereas Tim's work seems much more technical and formula-based most of the time.

First let me say that i think the poll results will be slightly askew do the people taking the poll. On a DMB website, most people are gonna say Tim.

Personally i think they both are amazing musicians but i give the upper hand to tim only because its so formulated and he is a quick whipper-snapper :)

I vote for Tim for several reasons, the least of which is that he can play like Dave and yet play his own distinct style.

Tim is so good that he can play Dave's parts and you don't know it's not Dave. To be able to mimic a distinct (and complicated) style that well and yet play harmonies and solos like he does proves in my mind that Tim is a vastly underrated guitarist.

Never really cared for Santana. he opened for Dave in 98 at Veterans Stadium and I wasn't very impressed. Yes, he is a legend but not in our time.

I agree with Santana sounding the same all the time. I've never heard a song from him that sounds different. It also doesnt help his case that I dont like his style of music.

I think it's Tim too! I think this, because of his speed and accuracy. Also he is a lot younger than CS. So imagine what he will be like when he's CS's age. Another deciding factor, was it took me a few weeks to play all of CS's stuff on guitar. Where as TR's stuff took me like 2 weeks to learn it all. I am definitely better than Tim now though so you may as well put my name up there on the poll. Thanks
my name's lance and i like nuts
