Strap Nut ???
Strap Nut ???
My guitar doesn't have a strap nut in the heal of the neck, i.e. where the neck meets the body. I was thinkin about doin it my self. I just don't know how far I can drill in. The neck is mahogany. Does this split easy? I'm scared as hell cause I paid 1200$ for the guitar and don't have another. Here's a pic if anyone cares.

OH CRAP!!!
Thats a nice guitar...too nice to not just pay $5 bucks and have a shop do it
I wouldn't risk it...just my opinion

I know that with Marin guitars (and I am sure this goes with other brands as well) but it is best to have a certified dealer do it so if they mess it up you can have some recourse. Either way, I would not do it myself. I could not even think of taking a drill to my baby. Pay the 5-20 bucks.

Well, if my guitar comes with it installed, then the drilling was done before I bought it, but it as still done. So I just walk away and look at other guitars while they're doing it. It makes it easier......until you hear the drill starting.waffle_house_jam wrote:taking a drill to a $1000+ guitar? dear god, man dont even consider it lol

hehe, i'm the oppositte. when it's time to rock this puppy down i have to be sitting. i'm thinking of getting one of those nice tall chairs or whatever.PilotC150 wrote:I just can't get confertable playing sitting. i usually sit, but if i have to i can stand. its just not as convenient. not to mention when im wearing someone elses strap which is way too big and i cant readjust it because the dude gets upset about it even though i have to extend my arm almost all the way down to play....
