Yes, you can buy programs that are somewhat like this. First of all though, they don't tab mp3 or wav files, they have to be converted to midi files first. If you have a midi file that you want to transcribe, there are several programs that will do that. I have one called digital orchestrator. It takes a midi file and writes out the sheet music. You can then seperate certain tracks and stuff like that. I think it also has the ability to tab out the notes, but I've never tried that as I have mainly used the program to do some beginning studies with my keyboard. I used this program to print out the sheet music to the Beatles "Martha My Dear" and it worked like a charm. I think there are some that are free on the net......try download.com If you want to transcribe an mp3 file or something, you have to get a wav to midi converter, which are expensive and don't always work too well, mainly because they have a hard time distinguishing between different instruments in a song that is performed by a band. So, I don't know if you want something like that. If you're trying to hear certain notes so that you can find them on the guitar, then the best program out there is Roni Music's Amazing Slow Downer. It allows you to slow the tempo of a song by as much as 400% without altering the pitch of the music. You can also loop certain parts of the song to practice over and over. There is also a device made by Tascam called the Guitar Trainer, which is a cd player that can slow down a song without altering pitch, loop segments of the song, and it also allows you to jack in an electric guitar (or acoustic/electric) and play along with the slowed down song. Its a very useful tool.myonlybliss wrote:anyone know of one like this?
