I bought a tak (eg523sc) a few months ago and it cracked from teh bridge down to the base of the guitar ...keep in mind i never dropped it
i took it back to the guitar store i bought it from and they sent it back to takamine to get it "inspected" before they replacee it.

it better. thats a huge fault in the guitar so they should replace it. espessially because you bought it less than a year ago. do you know if it had a warranty?

the only monkey wrench is the "proper care" clause of those warranties. if you didn't keep the guitar humidity right or you left it in a car and it has heat damage, you can kiss it goodbye. so barring those extenuating circumstances you'll be fine. (most houses have some humidity, at least enough so that it isn't noticable that it did any damage, and most people aren't dumb enough to leave a 600 dollar guitar in car)

I know the last Martin i had , i sent it back to the factory 7 months after i bought it do to a hairline crack along a seem and they claimed humidity was the cause even though i keep my guitars in my "guitar room" , always humidified and well kept. In short, just remember they get the final say in at all no matter what the truth is.

Good luck
