Takamine's arent bad guitars, but if you are looking to drop $800 might as well go after a Martin, you can get a killer Martin for under $800...check out http://www.musiciansfriend.com , always have great prices on everything.

I just picked up a EAN40c for $599 at Guitar Center, talked them down from $949, natural finish with Mahogany back and sides, Cedar top, beautiful deep reds in the mahogany pictures don't do it justice, pretty sweet for that price, but I think the key to getting a great sound from a Tak (like Howie) would be using medium strings.

I personally use Custom Lights.. You can't string a EAN40C with Mediums, anyways.. you'll pull the bridge off.. I should know.. I did that.. but it was under warranty and they didn't catch on to the "user error" or didn't care, and they replaced it.. but trust me, it will not be good on it.

You need to adjust the Truss Rod if you want to use heavier gauge strings
