can someone tell me what "flatpicking" is ??

What is flatpicking?

im kinda new but i believe its just using a pick as opposed to finger-picking.

yep,
Its playing with your pick, instead of your fingers. You play it on a acoustic guitar and it tends to be alot of leads, melody pattern, along with struming. When ever you hear bluegrass you are prolly hearing flatpicking.

I could be wrong but a guitar teacher once told me that it is using a pick with thumb and index fingers and finger picking with other three
all at once

anyone wanna post a few clips of flatpicking? i think i might know what it is, my friend does some strange picking. i dont really know though.

yep, something I wrote but its just kinda a riff I jam on-

I think flatpicking can be alot more than just bluegrass, I just dont know what the other stuff is. I dunno, Im just starting to really get into that style, so hopefully someone elese will have some more info-

im not really sure, It kinda has that constant/driving beat thing going on. Like the leads sound like something a fiddle would do, rather than a electric guitarist. But im really not sure-
