Looks like right around $300, Jayme. In that price range, I would definitely suggest playing some Alvarez guitars. I've had my Alvarez for years now, and I'm still extremely happy with it. Tak's in that price range are solid, too, for sure. Basically, my advice is: play everything in that price range that you can at various guitar shops (try at least one mom and pop!) and see what catches your eye and ear. Then check online to see if you can find it cheaper, and look at the reviews on Harmony Central. Good luck hunting, and let us know how the search goes!

I haven't been in the guitar market for years now so I can't really comment on what Alvarez models are even in that range. I can tell you that I'm still playing the same $350 Alvarez AD60K I bought maybe 5 years ago. Unless you're a really serious player looking for a professional quality instrument, you can get some great guitars in that price range. It's a matter of finding something that you like and something that is a good value for your money. Also, if it means driving an hour or two to get to a serious guitar shop, I'd that route. In all likelihood, a guitar is a purchase that you're going to have for a good, long while, so what's an extra $20 in gas?

hahaha have you seen gas prices here in buffalo? lol jk well at that time im not a serious player but i want to put in the time to get there, i was playing around at Gc and everything seemed better the my $99 pos, everything played so much easier, so the value for my money anything i play is going to be way better!

Also ,when buying from either GC or the guitar factory what should i ask?like do theyput better strings on for you? and give you a gig bag, i mean the one i have now i got at sams club in the fender starter box they sale, i need help dont want them to take advantage of me

I can't say enough good about Alvarez. A friend of mine who is a pretty serious guitar player had never played an Alvarez before. He picked mine up and was immediately wowed. He couldn't get over how good it sounded (despite the old strings) and refused to believe that I payed less than $400 for it. He seriously wouldn't stop gushing about it. I've always loved it but to see someone just be that amazed by it was interesting. You'd think he was playing a $1500 guitar the way he got so excited about it.
