Elixir Nanoweb

Unread post by DSeibel » Tue Jan 27, 2004 6:24 pm

Hi Guys

I'm new to this forum so here is my first question. Have any of you tried the Elixir Nanoweb strings. I put some on last night and I don't like them. Maybe I have to get used to them but I find them way to bright. I think thats the wrod I'm looking for. It sounds like my stereo when I put it in the Stadium DSP mode.

What kinda strings do you use. I have used D'Arddio's in the past and liked them, I guess I should stick with the tried and true.

Don't know about the nanowebs, but I string mine with the polywebs and I love'em. They're fast ... with almost no squeak.

polywebs are the original elixer coated strings. they have a "rubber" coating around the strings that makes them squeek a whole lot less and last a whole lot longer.
but they feel a lot different and a lot of people didn't like that so they came out with NANOwebs which have a much thinner coating and feel like normal strings.

I used NANOS for the longest time, and I loved them, but I just recently switched to D'Addario, and I must say, Excellent! My new favorites. But back on topic... I really enjoyed the NANOS, I can't complain.

I recently changed to polyweb's and I like them. I got tired of the D'Addario EXP's for some reason.

I personally don't like coated strings at all. I don't like how they feel, sound, or tune.

Maybe it's just my guitar, but I like good old PB's.

I use the Martin SP phosphor bronze lights (uncoated) i find that their tone lasts a heck of alot longer than the EXP's for some reason. They stay crisp and clear through entire shows. Try them out sometime just to give them a whirl.

But just my opinion.
