My roommate is just starting to get paid gigs at bars with his band. He's getting paid on the lower end of the spectrum, but its still decent cash for 2.5 hours and free beer all night. (This is huge...even after they finish their set they get hooked up.) The last place they played gave them $100 base, and then 10% of sales. Sales average $2k or so on a decent weeknight, so theyre pretty much guaranteed $300. It buys us beer all week after the show anyway. :)

Well, with four people in the band, it only works out to about $75 each, but hey, its still money.

And if youre halfway decent, you probably could get that. The main difference between my roommate and other guitarists/musicians I've met in this town isnt in ability...its the motivation to actually get off his ass, recruit people to play, and forcing them to practice regularly. Theyre really not that exciting of a band.

yeh i agree with fatjack on the too much dave thing...if its a dave atmosphere then thats cool but you might want to throw some variety in there. also did you sing at all? or was it just guitar pickin? i know the timmys were all picked of course, i liked how you played come together, i liek his rendition of that and some of his other covers seemed cool, i only play letting go, entity, and stream by reynolds at shows...i knwo the rest but i have tried playign them and people just dont seem interested, hope it was better for you, but congrats with that and by the way howd it go? were you nervous or stoned or anything?? just curious...peace and congrats
