My hatred of my vocal cords

Unread post by mdel21 » Fri Jan 09, 2004 1:33 am

I hate them. I used to not be able to play or sing. Now I can play fairly well, and I can't sing with shit. It never bothered me when I couldn't do either, but now that I can do one, it drives me nuts. Just had to blow off some steam.

I really envy people that can play and sing well. Unfortunately I sound like a moose caught in a vice grip. Guess I stick to just playing.

i'm with you guys. I almost bought an ear training thing on an informational the other night at like 2 AM. They showed other sucky singers all the sudden performing in front of huge crowds. It was a book and CD I think, maybe a CDROM too. ALL THAT FOR ONLY 3 installments of 19.99! I was an idiot to pass it up.

I have one friend who plays almost like Timmy. He really doesn't listen to DMB, but he is like Timmy to me (as if I were Dave...what a dream). The first time that I played Nancies, he went off and started playing a solo just like Timmy's off of L@LC. I had to stop from sheer amazement. BUT he can't play and sing. I can which pisses him off, and I sing in key too  I never had voice lessons or whatever, but my voice sounds horrible, it just stays in key.

I just learned how to sing and play like 9 months ago and I think I am actually progressing quite nicely. Meaning I can stay in key alot more than I used to. The only problem is I think the way my voice sounds is awful. I had great tone when I was a little kid but lost it with puberty. I feel that with enough practice anyone can stay in key, but you can't change what you are born with. Just my two cents on the issue.

Right now im killing myself because back a few years ago i could hit the high notes dave sings easily and go higher, but now whenever i try to sing the old dave stuff my voice just either doesnt go that high, or it sounds like a cat in an accordion.
