Help! Thumb and Finger Slapping
Hey guys, I have seen videos of tim reynolds do this kind of thing and that justin king guy did alot of it...... but I can;t figure out how to do it! Esp. when it is farther up on the fretboard of the guitar- I'm so lost!! I have looked it up on google, but maybe I am looking for the wrong thing
Does anyone know how to do this or sites that explain it? Thanks guys!

Don't bother looking for something on the internet to help with this technique, i seriously doubt you will find anything that helps. you just have to be able to see what the guitarist is doing and figure it out on your own

slapping is a bass technique thats usually used in funk. i'm sure you could do it on acoustic guitar, but it doesn't really work because y'all have thinner strings, and the sound would be thin. bass strings are thicker. slapping on bass is all in the wrist, you smack the strings with the side of the first knuckle of your thumb usually. its important to have your thumb "bounce" off the string.fatjack wrote:Its called finger tapping, not slapping.GuitarGuy610 wrote:Hey guys, I have seen videos of tim reynolds do this kind of thing and that justin king guy did alot of it...... but I can;t figure out how to do it! tapping on bass is usually done by anchoring your right thumb on the fretboard and hammering on with your first to fingers, whilst your your hand hammers too. but you probly know this already, and you can look it up, and you don't play bass so who cares!
i know what you're talking about though, timmy does it during live in chicago. i know he slaps, but i'm not sure if he taps. haha, funny out of context.
