so i talked to my guitar teacher, and after talking with some of the local stores. I desided to go with a plug in acoustic.
Now the two choices in my rice range are
a fender sXe 1600 with hard case for 400
or a Deam pre se for 350
here is the dean http://www.deanguitars.com/performer_dse.htm
of course, the catch is that the fender is used, its still in good shape, but no warranty. So what do you guys think?

I'd advise against going for an acoustic electric in that price range. Youre sacrificing a lot of guitar quality for that pickup at that price. Bare minimum you need to spend on something you can plug in is $500, and that price should be for a used guitar.
Edit: Fender acoustic = meh.

I agree. The pick-up alone will be $100. Stay with a pure acoustic.mbgreen wrote:I'd advise against going for an acoustic electric in that price range. Give some thought to a Washburn D10S. "The World’s Best Selling Acoustic Guitar earned the distinction with superior craftsmanship, tone and value. Voted Number 1 by Acoustic Guitar magazine as the best guitar under $500. Now with a solid spruce top."
Washburns are overlooked by most people these days and they rule in the entry guitar market (IMHO).
Good luck and Merry Christmas!
I have a Washburn D10S (lefty version though) and it is a good guitar for the money. I won't make any outrageous claims that I see on here so ofter comparing a $300 dollar guitar to a ______ (insert your favorite high end guitar), but I had a setup done at a shop where they sell alot of Lakewood, Breedlove etc... and they said that I definately got one of the better guitars in that price range. I bought mine for $175 off EBAY, risky but I didn't know any better at the time and it is hell finding a left handed guitar.taylordb wrote:I agree. The pick-up alone will be $100. I'd recommend one of these as well. For the money, youre getting a guitar that sounds a lot like a very expensive martin. Its actually slightly more balanced though, or at least I think so. I would check them out...theyre made by Godin, the same company that makes seagull guitars. I think they sound warmer than a seagull though, and you dont get that damn wide neck and funky headstock that seagulls have.
EDIT: For the record, I own a seagull S6 cedar. Great guitar for the money, but I'd go with a Simon&Patrick looking back.

Call Buffalo Brothers http://www.buffalobrosguitars.com and get yourself a used Martin or Taylor.
